What is Hound Trader in simple terms?

Think of it as having a team of elite, specialized financial analysts working for you 24/7. Our AI does the heavy lifting of analyzing thousands of stocks, so you can focus on making informed decisions.

I'm new to trading. Is Hound Trader for me?

Yes. HT is designed to give clear multi-lens research regardless of your experience. For new traders, our Educational Hub and concise analysis from our AI "hounds" can help you practice data-driven decisions — not emotional ones. Outputs are research information, not advice.

How is this different from the free tools on my brokerage's website?

Most free brokerage tools surface basic indicators that are widely available. We run a proprietary multi-lens AI analysis system with risk overlays, pack consensus on Advanced, and publicly documented accuracy grading. Depth and transparency are the differentiators — not guaranteed outcomes.

What do BUY, SELL, and HOLD mean?

Signals are informational research labels, not trade instructions. For grading: BUY/STRONG BUY is correct if price rises over the horizon; SELL/STRONG SELL if price falls; HOLD is correct if the absolute return stays within the horizon band (default ±3%; 1-day ±2%, 31-day ±4%). The public headline metric is directional accuracy on BUY+SELL only at the 1-day horizon — HOLD is tracked separately. See Accuracy Methodology for full rules.

Do you tell me exactly what to buy and sell?

No. Hound Trader is an analysis and intelligence platform, not a financial advisory service. We provide data, signals, and research context so you can make your own decisions. We do not provide personalized financial advice or execute trades.

What's the first thing I should do when I sign up?

Start with a Basic Analysis (1 credit) on a stock you know. Then try Enhanced (5 credits) and pick one specialist lens — Labrador, Saint Bernard, Greyhound, or Bulldog — to see how a focused lens differs from the technical baseline.

What do you mean by an "AI Kennel"?

The "Kennel" is our term for four proprietary analytical lenses (plus Bloodhound as a foundation overlay on Advanced). Like real hounds, each is bred for a specialty—technical precision, long-term value tilt, volatility timing, and capital defense—applied to a shared research stack.

What is the practical difference between the four analytical lenses?

The Labrador emphasizes disciplined technical confluence. The Saint Bernard tilts toward value, stability, and longer horizons. The Greyhound emphasizes volatility and momentum setups. The Bulldog is the risk gate — drawdowns, beta, and capital preservation. Advanced combines them in a weighted consensus; Bloodhound may refine the result afterward.

How does the credit system work?

Credits = analysis runs. Your plan includes a daily allowance (spent first). Banked credits from purchases, prizes, or referrals can be spent beyond that. Basic is 1 credit (technical). Enhanced is 5 credits (one specialist lens). Advanced is 15 credits (all four lenses + optional Bloodhound) and requires Basic plan or higher.

Do my daily credits roll over if I don't use them?

Included daily credits do not roll over — you get a fresh included allotment each day. Banked credits from purchases, prizes, or referrals stay available until you spend them.

Is there a mobile app?

While there is no native app to download yet, the entire Hound Trader platform is fully responsive. It is designed with a mobile-first approach to provide a seamless, powerful experience on any phone, tablet, or desktop browser. A native app is on our future development roadmap.

Can I see the historical accuracy of the AI signals?

Yes. See our public Accuracy Methodology page for how we grade signals, and the Track Record / Accuracy surfaces for live directional hit rates (BUY and SELL; HOLD is graded separately). In-product cards also show up-day share, backtest hit rate, and paper win rate — those are different metrics, labeled accordingly.

How up-to-date is your market data?

Equity quotes and company snapshots are typically refreshed on a short delay (often around 15 minutes) depending on the data vendor path. In-product freshness notes show when a price was last updated. We do not promise exchange-grade real-time streaming on every plan.

What models power the shared research stack?

Our "hounds" are specialized analytical lenses on a shared research stack. The Basic pipeline uses Random Forest and related ML for signal generation; Enhanced/Advanced apply personality overlays (and Advanced may blend a Bloodhound/Kronos foundation-model price-path check afterward). Live accuracy is published on our methodology and track-record pages — we do not publish static tier percentages.

How are your models validated?

Every signal is forward-tested against real market outcomes — not just historical backtests. We track live accuracy across multiple time horizons and publish our methodology publicly. Models are also validated against historical regimes during development.

Can I integrate HT with my own trading system via an API?

Yes. Ultimate includes API key access so you can pull research outputs and signals into your own tools. Outputs remain research information only — not automated trade execution or investment advice.

Can I change my subscription plan?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time through your account dashboard. Changes will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.

What is your cancellation policy?

We believe in earning your business every month. You can cancel your subscription at any time, no questions asked. Your access will continue until the end of your current paid billing period.

What does Hound Trader not claim?

We do not claim guaranteed profits, guaranteed alpha, or that signals are personalized financial advice. We are not a broker and not an RIA. We do not promise exchange-grade real-time data on every plan. We do not publish static “tier win-rates” as marketing facts — live graded metrics and methodology version are the source of truth. See /limitations.

Why is the headline accuracy directional (BUY+SELL) instead of overall?

HOLD can be graded “correct” when price stays in a band. In calm markets that can inflate an overall percentage. The public headline uses directional accuracy on BUY and SELL only at the 1-day horizon so the claim matches actionable-direction research. Overall (including HOLD) is shown as secondary context.

Is the public ledger the same as the headline number?

No. /accuracy-ledger and /accuracy-sample.json show a newest-first sample for inspection. /accuracy.json is the aggregate snapshot for citation. Sample windows can differ from the full population — we say so on the page.

Can accuracy change after it was published?

Yes. Evaluations depend on verified daily closes and data quality. Upstream revisions, late prices, or methodology version bumps can change aggregates. Always cite methodologyVersion and lastUpdated / asOf from /accuracy.json.

Is my personal and financial information secure?

Absolutely. Security is paramount. We use NextAuth.js for authentication, hash all passwords with bcryptjs, enforce rate limiting on all API endpoints, and follow enterprise-grade security practices to ensure your data is protected.

Are you a brokerage firm? Will you hold my money?

No. We are strictly a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform for financial analysis. We are not a brokerage, we never have access to your trading accounts, and we will never ask you to deposit funds with us.

Is Hound Trader a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA)?

No. Hound Trader is a technology company providing a data analysis platform. The information provided is for informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute financial advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any security.
